Drone Magic!

Drone Magic 1

Have you admired the sweeping views captured in our projects like 'Tangerine from the Sky' or 'Riad Al Andalous from Above'? Those stunning aerial shots that show a different perspective?

Well, these visuals were all made thanks to the incredible capabilities of Drone technology!

This article breaks down how drones work in photography and videos. Whether you're new to this or just want to learn more!

What are drones?

Drone Magic 3

Drones are small or medium sized flying machines that don't need pilots onboard.

They can be controlled from afar or fly on their own, staying up in the air for a while.

These cool gadgets mix robots and flying. They use different types of engines like electric or jet power.

Plus, they come with fancy gear like GPS, radar, heat sensors, and really good cameras to take awesome pictures and videos from above.

How Drones Work?

Drones operate much like helicopters and airplanes, starting their engines, propelling themselves into flight with rotating propellers, and being guided by remote control from the ground.

Some models can autonomously follow predefined routes using GPS, recording their journey through an onboard camera for remote monitoring.

Most drones typically feature four propellers (though variations exist with three, six, or eight) with dual blades, working in pairs rotating in opposite directions to maintain stability mid flight.

In addition, each drone is equipped with a central flight controller, which ensures stability, acts as a compass by sensing the magnetic field, and uses GPS data to relay the drone's location to regulate motor speed through the Electronic Speed Control, ensuring a safe and steady flight experience.

Types of Drones

Let's explore different kinds of drones! Knowing these types helps pick the right one for what you want to do!

1. Consumer Drones

  • Designed for recreational use, these drones are typically affordable, user-friendly, and equipped with basic features for hobbyists, beginners, or casual aerial photography.

2. Prosumer Drones

  • More advanced than consumer models, prosumer drones offer improved camera quality, longer flight times, and enhanced stability. They're designed to semi professionals seeking better image and video quality.

3. Professional Drones

  • These high end drones are equipped with top notch cameras, longer battery life, greater flight range, and advanced features like obstacle avoidance and multiple sensors. They are used by filmmakers, photographers, surveyors, and in various commercial applications.

4. Racing Drones

  • Built for speed and agility, racing drones are designed for competitive racing events. They are lightweight, highly maneuverable, and capable of high speeds but usually lack advanced camera systems.

5. Fixed Wing Drones

  • Unlike multi rotor drones, fixed wing drones resemble traditional airplanes with wings. They offer longer flight times and are suitable for mapping, surveying large areas, and agricultural purposes.

Techniques for Drone Videography

Here are the principal moves to capture stunning aerial shots:

Dronie: Capture a subject with a backward, rising shot for a grand view of both the subject and the surroundings.

Helix: Create a spiraling shot around a subject, blending its interaction with the environment.

Rocket: Capture rapid ascents while keeping the subject centered, showing density and surroundings.

Circle: Circle around a subject at a constant altitude, capturing it from every angle in its environment.

Boomerang: Fly in an oval path around a subject, highlighting its importance dynamically.

Panorama: Select from Sphere, Wide Angle, or 180° panoramas effortlessly with one tap for stunning panoramic shots.

Drones are changing how we do things, making new ideas possible! They're not just cool gadgets; they're tools for amazing photos and videos.

Try out drones, have fun experimenting with them, and discover the awesome views they can give you.

No matter if you're just starting or already a pro, playing with drones can make your projects way more exciting.
